Siri doesn't know my home address

Whenever I ask Siri to "remind me when I get home" it says it doesn't know my home address.

However I have my home address entered into my contact info correctly... The address book entry I use for myself has both my work and home addresses entered in exactly the same format. Siri will recognise my work address fine (I can say "remind me when I get to work" and it works perectly) and will happily recognise other people's addresses too, but for some reason I cannot get it to use my home address.

I've tried all of the following:

- Deleting my home address from my contact card and re-entering it.

- Changing my contact card to someone else and then changing it back to mine.

- Saying "my house" instead of "home" (but I doubt this is the problem as Siri says "By the way, I don't know where your home address is" so it must know that I'm trying to use my home address, it just doesn't know what the street adress actually is).

Has anyone got any further advice before I try the Genius bar?

well, I too have set my own card in the Siri settings, and I also experience it working just fine when I say "... work," but siri claims to not know my home address.

has anyone experienced this problem having never used google sync? perhaps sync does something to the home address field that makes it unrecognizable to siri, and maybe also gets copied over when switching to icloud.

torshen: have you tried re-making your own card since switching to icloud? if so and it works, maybe this is a problem best addressed toward google?

edit: grammar

I had the same problem but eventually got it to work. The problem seemd to be in the address fileds. As Home in my contacts I had entered in the format

house number (followed by) street name,

area,

city,

county,

post code

When I removed the area listing and left the rest it immediately recognised my home address.

Seems to be working fine now.

hope this helps.

I don't have an area section in my address, it just goes like this:

45B Streetname Road

Town

County

Postcode

That's it... I could try removing the county... Or removing everythign except streetname and postcode... Will have a bash later and see if it works (Can't do it now as I'm at work and everyone looks at me funny when I start talking to my phone 🙂 )

I have the same problem. I deleted all of my address and added bits until Siri said it knew my home address. I set some test reminders with Siri. They didn't work so I checked the reminders and found it was using a completely different location in my city with a different post code. However, there was an alternative on the reminder which is my correct address. I checked that and it worked.

So as far as Siri is concerned the home address in my address card is a completely different address.

Baffling.

I too had the same problems as everyone else on here but I've sussed it out how to do it. Go on google maps on your phone and find your home or work etc on the map. Now on your home press your finger on the screen and it drops a pin with a blue arrow.

Click on the blue arrow

click on add to contacts

click on add to existing contact

find your own contact details and click on it

your details open up with the address you dropped the pin on now in your address field.

click on edit at the top right hand side of the screen

now scroll down to the address and click on the address description at the side of the listed address and select either home, work other or add custom label.

The custom label is good for anything else you need to name. I have all our branches now listed under say, wolverhampton brach, telford branch etc. This way I can get siri to remind me where ever I want to go such as " remind me to get my tools back when i get to the "wolverhampton branch". Works 100% every time this way.

Hope this helps you guys out.

This was such an encouraging post (dropping pin on map for your address, then adding it to your own existing contact info). Unfortunately it still doesn't work and it's very exhasperating! (The only difference between the address that I previously had and the new address that came from dropping the pin was that the latter said "New York" instead of "NY" for the state)

I tried:

1) "remind me when I get home to call xxxx"

2) "when i get home, remind me to call xxx"

3) "when I arrive home, remind me to call xxx"

4) asking siri "what's my home address?" - then it shows me the address pulled from contacts (but doesnt say it)

5) verified that 'my info' shows me correctly in settings->general->siri

6) walking around my property with map open and making sure that it shows me exactly on the pin.

7) verified that 'location services' is ON for siri and maps. Curiously, in order to make this work, I would think that 'location services' would need to be ON for 'reminders'.... but there's not an option to turn it ON or OFF for 'reminders'.

8) verified that 'Notifications' is ON for 'reminders'

My contact info is in my EXCHANGE address book. Shouldn't matter, should it? I don't have myself in the locally stored address book because my company has me in the exchange server, and I dont want to have duplicates (of me, or ANY contacts).

Any more ideas???
